Wester Hailes Health Agency aim to help local people make a positive impact on their own and their communities wellbeing.
The Agency has a holistic approach, and offers range of services and groups.
Mental Health Support – This includes anxiety management, counselling and CBT.
Anxiety management is a 6 week course which is run four times throughout the year. In a small group, the course will explore and develop coping strategies to help you cope with high levels of anxiety. This is open to anyone living in South West Edinburgh, who is comfortable in a group environment.
Counselling offers a regular opportunity to talk over issues in the clients lives with a skilled listener. This is available forf up t 12 weeks, with the choice of wither a female or male counsellor. It is open to people aged 16 and over living in South West Edinburgh. This service is an accredited member of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy, which has been found to be an effective treatment for a wide range of mental health issues. This is avaialable to people aged 16 and above following an assessment.
Substance Misuse – In partnership with CHAI, the substance misuse service aims to help people make the changes they want to make regarding their alcohol or drug use. This includes access to:
- CBT and Counselling
- Recovery Group
- Mindfulness and complimentary therapies.
Group Work – The group program includes a group for carers, craft groups, a women’s group, and more. The Community Garden is a group gardening project involving creative conservation. There is also a regular drop in group.
Physical Activities – The Agency offers various activities such as access to the Green Gym, yoga, and Pilates. Classes have limited spaces so please book in advance.
Complementary therapies – Massage and Reflexology are offered for people living in and around Wester Hailes.
