Places for People – Older Peoples Services
Places for People provide various service for older people across Edinburgh. There is visiting support and day opportunities to help you live the way you want for as long as possible. Places for People also deliver innovative solutions to enable the personal development of older people in care homes.
Community Connecting is a befriending service for older people who are feeling isolated and would like to rebuild their confidence. Volunteers support older people to increase their self-esteem and make connections in their local area. This service is available to people living in Edinburgh.
St Leonards Project offers 24 hour care and support service for older people. Most of the people supported here are suffering from dementia. mental health issues or have a learning disability. However the service is designed to cater to your individual needs with a tailored package of care.
The Pleasance Service is a Day Centre for older people with mental health issues, learning disabilities, dementia, and/or mobility problems. The Day Centre has the following services:
- Lounge area
- Dining area – both are locations for a variety of activities
- Small room – for confidential meetings.
At the Pleasance there is both one to one support and groups available. The support all aims to help you maintain you maintain your life skills and wellbeing.
Intended Client Groups:
- Drug and Alcohol Users
- Older People
- People Experiencing Mental Health Difficulties
- People with Dementia
This service is available to residents of all parts of Edinburgh
Applicants for this service should also meet this condition:
For St Leonards service a Health & Social Care assessment required to access this service, as Health & Social Care funding is required.
The Plesance Day Centre is open to those living in South East or South West Edinburgh
This service is available by appointment only.
