Minority Ethnic Carers of People Project (MECOPP)
MECOPP can help carers to access services appropriate to their caring situation.
Services offered include:
- Carer Support Services
- Gypsy/Traveller Project
- Carer Training
MECOPP also work to develop a strategic response to identified gaps in service provision, assist service providers in the development of culturally competent services, develop opportunities for the active involvement of Black and Minority Ethnic carers in consultation planning, raise the profile of Black and Minority Ethnic carers and their needs at a national level.
By working in partnership with carers, the voluntary and statutory sectors, MECOPP actively seeks to challenge and dismantle barriers that deny Black and Minority Ethnic carers access to health, social work and other social care services in Edinburgh, the Lothians and further afield.
Languages spoken include; English, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Nepali, Arabic, Cantonese.

This service is available to residents of all parts of Edinburgh
Applicants for this service should also meet this condition:
Black and Minority Ethnic Carers in the Lothians who care for a person aged 25 or over.
This service accepts direct self referrals.
