Home Start Edinburgh West & South West
Home Start supports families who have one or more children under 5 years old, who are going through a difficult time for a number of reasons.
Difficulties can include Post Natal Depression; Relationship Breakdown; Isolation; Managing Childrens Behaviour etc. Many parents need help, friendship, advice or support during those early years when children are young.
Home Start provides support at home through trained volunteers. Volunteers will visit families at home once a week.
Volunteers can help:
Reduce family isolation and increase social networks
Strengthen parent-child relationships
Improve parents’ physical health & emotional well being
Develop and improve parenting skills
Improve the home environment
Improve children’s health, well being and development
Increase access to health, education and community services
Home Start also run PEEP groups for young families.
PEEP for babies 0-12 months is a group run jointly between Home-Start and Community Learning and Development at Tynecastle High School.
Fun to Be One is a group for 1-2 year olds and their parents/carers, at Tynecastle High School
This service is available to people who live in West and South West Edinburgh.
Intended Client Groups:
- Families with young children
Applicants for this service should also meet this condition:
Parents with at least one child under five years old, resident in West or South West Edinburgh
This service accepts direct self referrals.
G.P., Health & Social Care, Health Visitors, Shelter, Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Education
Monday - Thursdays from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm
