Edinburgh Cyrenians Communities
Cyrenians’ Communities provide a safe and stable setting for young people who are affected by homelessness.
The purpose of the Communities is to provide a safe, stable, community environment for young people (16-30) to live learn and develop together, and we aim to do this by: –
- Providing security, structure and boundaries
- Taking an holistic approach and providing a variety of experiences, including a City and Guilds qualification (Learning Power Awards).
- Enabling the transition into the wider community
Our unique approach to supporting our residents involves providing a stable and safe accomodation where their view matters, where they are actively engaged in managing the community, where they live and work together with other young people (including peer mentor). Here, young people feel at home, and are able to establish a sense of belonging. This stability encourages them to overcome past difficulties and move forward with fresh confidence, increased self esteem, and a healthier view of themselves and their future
There are two therapeutic communities in and around Edinburgh – the City Community and the Farm Community. Both of these communities are closely linked with Cyrenians’ social enterprises, Good Food and the Farm Enterprise.
