VOCAL – Voices of Carers Across Lothian
VOCAL is the Voice of Carers Across Lothian – an organisation run by carers for carers.
A carer is someone who provides unpaid care to a family member, partner, relative or friend with a:
-
physical health problem
-
mental health problem
-
disability
-
long term condition
-
drug or alcohol problem
Many carers are unaware of the support available to them, or what they are entitled to. VOCAL’s Carer Support Team works with carers on a one-to-one basis to help identify the issues affecting them, and achieve the best possible outcome for carers.
VOCAL provide a comprehensive range of services for carers, including:
- Information and advice
- Emotional Support
- Counselling for carers
- Advocacy
- Training and groups to help you cope as a carer
- Family Support Addictions service
VOCAL works with carers to identify a plan of support which can include work with other agencies, referral to benefit or power of attorney surgeries and access to a range of training and lifestyle management opportunities.
